my Dad who grew up in LA
he decided to volunteer his life & times
to join the Army battling in foreign lands
myself joined Select Services at nineteen
i signed up in case there was a draft
something i did to get government aid to go to college
my youngest son is a family man
so young so wise i can see the surprise
in his little girls eyes
blood & heroes
there's something special when someone wears thier uniform
even those who protect our National parks
NYPD some men & women really work harder than others do
those in Afghanistan here's a toast to you
my uncles & nephews who served thru the years
seen them come and go
as i played & coached baseball
come the holidays witnessed the Trans Siberian Orchestra
there's a Fire
that burns bright in the middle of our country
ORU Prayer Tower
where prayers and dreams are a reality
where students lead the American Nation
comes a time
when the righteous will shine and a flame that goes on forever
