this is Florida
my second home from my Native roots in California
living in a mobile home
palm trees spiraling in my view
the Sun always shines better in the south
have some unfinished business here
some past love, some future plans
i can't get enough of the rains
whether there in the west or east
living in a sober state of mind
feeling satisfied watching women fully clothed
working at People Ready
i rock steady as i chat with the passengers
not too proud to shovel or pick up trash along the roadside
using a jackhammer laying down pcp pipe warehouse work
carrying drywall & carpentry work
basically construction work
the sweat on my brow comes along Way
flowers always bloom so bright
colourful skies tropical birds
outdoor digs out door springs
rushing shores & sandy beaches
moon & sun always look good
whether the sunrise or sunset
i swear that girl could make me laugh
beautiful Black women, Cuban women, white women
in their pastel bikinis from Daytona 2 Miami Beach
standing, but not alone
where i'll lie someday
the dirt below could never hold me down
